Cars in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were notified by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.

A high-ranking official said the attack made him speechless and needed to be solved promptly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
